Fantasy Football Rules 1999

Commissioner Ev

The Fundamental Concept

Twelve football fans get together to form a fantasy league. Each member of the group is

awarded a franchise for the team he will put together.

A predetermined schedule is set up so the teams can meet in head-to-head competition.

The commissioner organizes a fantasy draft where each franchise owner selects scoring

NFL players: quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends and place kickers.

These player selections are made from actual NFL player rosters.

Trading and picking up players is allowed after the draft; all such transactions are subject

to the trade guidelines and deadlines of the league.

Each franchise submits its weekly starting lineup before the franchises meet in head-to-head

competition.

Following the scoring method selected by the league, the weekly results of scores

and standings are determined and mailed to each franchise by the commissioner.

The season culminates with playoffs and a Fantasy Bowl, using a predetermined playoff

structure.

Entry Fees and Payoffs

Each franchise must pay a $25 entry fee.

The franchise with the high score each week (except playoff weeks) receives $5.

The payoffs for the final standings are: First - $100, Second - $65, Third - $40, Fourth - $25.

The Commissioner (me)

The League

Twelve teams per league

Three divisions of four teams

Over the season, each team will play the other teams in its division twice and all

other teams in the league once

The regular season consists of 14 weeks and the playoffs consist of 3 weeks

(the NFL season is 17 weeks long)

A Franchise (Your Team)

Consists of 12 NFL players which are selected during the draft and which can be changed

through trades and picking up players not on other teams.

Eight players make up your starting roster (active players), the other five are your reserves.

The starting roster consists of:

1 Quarterback

2 Running Backs

2 Wide Receivers

1 Tight End

1 Kicker

1 Deffense

Your reserves can be made up of any combination of the above.

Scoring

The active players on your roster contribute to your weekly score. If they score in the NFL

during the week, you get points for your team.

(Your reserves don't contribute to your weekly score.)

You get the following points when your player scores:

6 points for scoring a touchdown

3 points for throwing a touchdown pass

3 points for a field goal

1 point for each 20 yards rushing or receiving

1 point for each 40 yards passing

2 points for scoring a 2-point conversion

1 point for throwing a 2-point conversion

1 point for kicking an extra point

The Playoffs

Six teams make the playoffs and the playoffs are single elimination.

The three division winners make the playoffs and the three remaining teams with the best

records make the playoffs.

The two division winners with the best record get a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

The team with the worst record plays the team with the best record in all playoff games.

Tie Breakers

Game tie breakers are not used during the regular season, only during the playoffs.

During the playoffs, each team in the playoffs must rank their reserve players in order of

who will score the most, on down to least. If two teams are tied after their active players

are accounted for, the highest ranked reserve players are compared to determine the winner.

If they are tied, players are compared in the order they were ranked until a winner is

determined. If the teams are still tied, a coin-toss will determine the winner.

The tie breakers to determine which team wins a division are:

Best Win-Loss Record

Head-to-Head Win-Loss Record

Division Win-Loss Record

Head-to-Head Points

Points Overall

Coin-Toss

The tie breakers to determine which remaining teams make the playoffs are:

Best Win-Loss Record

Head-to-Head Win-Loss Record

Head-to-Head Points

Points Overall

Coin-Toss

The Draft

A draft day is selected on which all twelve franchises can be represented
